  • Case Mix: General Emergency Medicine with a wide range of medical services including critical care, women's health, and pediatrics

  • Specialty Backup Available: Yes, including NICU and PICU backup
  • Support Staff Available: Scribes, NPPAs, RNs
PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
  • Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Board: BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
  • Licenses: Active Louisiana Medical License, DEA with Louisiana address, Louisiana Controlled Substance License, Supervising Physician License
  • DEA / CDS: Active DEA with Louisiana address and Louisiana Controlled Substance License required
  • Certifications: ACLS, ATLS, PALS, BLS (AHA preferred)
  • Experience: Residency in Emergency Medicine required; new graduates accepted
  • Other Qualifications: Must be a supervising physician for NPs and PAs; proof of CME and case logs for past 2 years; documentation of flu and TB immunizations
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients in the 20-bed ED with an annual volume of 41,000 visits.
  • Supervise nurse practitioners and physician assistants as required.
  • Collaborate with specialty backup including NICU and PICU for critical patients.
  • Maintain board certification, complete required CME, and provide case logs for privileging.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, credentialing, and hospital-specific requirements including immunizations and supervisory responsibilities.
