Over decades, the firm has successfully handled long-running, multi-faceted cases against powerful, well-funded opponents and secured billions of dollars in settlements and verdicts while working with clients on a contingency basis. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role based in St. Louis, MO. Must be able to work on-site in our St. Louis office Monday-Friday. Responsibilities include: Handling day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable processing, bank and account reconciliations, intercompany transactions and preparation of financial reports and statements. Supporting budgeting and forecasting, tracking case-related expenses, and assisting with cost analysis to help the firm manage litigation-related financial risk. Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and firm policies, coordinating with attorneys and administrative staff on matter-specific financial questions, assisting with audits and tax preparation, and preparing 1099s. Maintaining the Company's case database, currently in ProLaw, and contributing to process efficiencies within the firm. Qualifications Strong core accounting skills, including general ledger management, financial reporting, reconciliations, and familiarity with GAAP or other relevant standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills desired. Quickbooks Online and Prolaw experience preferred, but not required. Comfort working with large data sets and detailed financial records. Experience in cost tracking, and financial analysis, ideally within a professional services or law firm environment. Knowledge of compliance, audit support, and tax-related processes, with the ability to follow firm policies and regulatory requirements. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to prioritize multiple matters and deadlines. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with attorneys, staff, and external partners. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Prior experience in a law firm, litigation-focused practice, or other cost or project accounting environments is highly valued.
