Registered Nurse - Med/Surg

The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. The nurse provides routine and complex care, developing the ability to manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Responsibilities include making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments according to appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of treatments prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS certification via AHA required.
• RN License in the state of employment or compact.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a shift from 7 AM to 7 PM, including weekend and on-call requirements of 2 to 4 shifts per month, rotated among staff members.
