We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a non-profit organization in Brooklyn, New York. This Long-term Contract position will focus on strengthening day-to-day accounting operations, improving the accuracy of financial records, and helping maintain a well-organized general ledger. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on Yardi experience, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Oversee general ledger activity and help resolve discrepancies to improve the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to routine accounting transactions and period-end adjustments.
• Lead key month-end close tasks, ensuring deadlines are met and financial records are properly updated.
• Perform detailed account reconciliations to identify variances, research issues, and support corrective action.
• Complete bank reconciliations on a regular basis and investigate outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Review existing accounting records and assist with general ledger cleanup efforts to support reliable reporting.
• Use Yardi to manage accounting information, maintain records, and support reporting needs across the finance function.• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting or accountant role.
• Strong background in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations.
• Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
• Required experience using Yardi in an accounting environment.
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage priorities within a contract assignment.
• Prior experience in a non-profit environment is preferred.
