Job Description

A leading alternative investment firm is seeking a Head of Technical Accounting & Transactions to join its growing finance leadership team. In this highly visible role, you will serve as the firm's technical accounting expert, partnering directly with executive leadership on complex acquisitions, financings, strategic transactions and accounting matters while overseeing technical accounting, SEC reporting and external financial reporting. Based in Manhattan, the position offers a flexible hybrid schedule and an outstanding opportunity to make a first move out of Big Four into a commercially focused leadership role.

About the Head of Technical Accounting & Transactions

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n

\n
• Lead technical accounting assessments and prepare accounting memoranda supporting acquisitions, financing transactions, entity restructurings and other complex strategic initiatives.
\n
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Investments, Operations and executive leadership on the accounting implications of investments, financings and other significant transactions.
\n
• Serve as the firm's subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and technical accounting guidance.
\n
• Oversee the preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, financial statement footnotes, MD&A and related disclosures.
\n
• Support SOX 404 compliance, internal controls, accounting policies and disclosure controls.
\n
• Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting and SEC reporting matters.
\n
• Monitor new accounting standards and SEC regulations, leading implementation efforts where appropriate.
\n
• Drive continuous improvement across financial reporting, accounting processes, internal controls and reporting automation.

Key Requirements:

\n

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline; CPA required.
\n
• Currently operating at Manager level within a Big Four Accounting Advisory, Deals, CMAAS, FAAS, AAS or Transaction Services practice, or possess equivalent technical accounting experience.
\n
• Extensive experience researching complex accounting matters and preparing technical accounting memoranda supporting acquisitions, financings and other strategic transactions.
\n
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements and SOX 404 compliance.
\n
• Proven ability to engage, influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Operations and external auditors.
\n
• Excellent analytical, communication, project management and technical writing skills.
\n
