Accountant

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks: Set up new projects and verify contractual agreements. Oversee coordination of join ventures. Review and process annual reports for state compliance. Process payroll bi-weekly including all journal entries required. Process ACH transactions to 401k provider bi-weekly. Assist in analysis of subsidiary schedules needed for year-end. Assist with monthly billing. Reconcile general ledger accounts as needed. Assist with budgeting. Review VantagePoint accounting records for consistency and accuracy. Assist with completion of schedules for annual audits, including but not limited to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) audit. Oversee Accounting Specialist on processes and procedures and assist with any questions. Review Accounts Payable invoices for accuracy and coding to correct accounts including entering invoices as needed. Enter cash receipts as needed as backup to Accounting Specialist. Review timesheets and expense reports as needed for proper coding and assist with questions. Enter line of credit transactions as needed as backup to Accounting Specialist. Assist in reviewing monthly expense accounts as needed and month-end closing. Filing and general administrative duties as needed to support accounting. Miscellaneous accounting projects and tasks as needed. Qualifications, Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred) and 3+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. The successful candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Experience with VantagePoint accounting system a plus. Work Requirements: Monday through Friday, 8-5 p.m. in the Overland Park office. This position could require additional work outside of these hours as necessary to fulfill the position requirements. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods in a stationary position at a desk, operating a phone and computer; bending, reaching, repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets.
