This position is entirely remote, providing flexibility for our team members while ensuring they can deliver high-quality mental health services. The mental health counselor will primarily work with clients from an outpatient office setting while collaborating with correctional facilities. Together with a multidisciplinary team, the counselor will coordinate care to ensure their patients receive appropriate treatment plans tailored to their unique situations.

Key Responsibilities\n

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, and thorough assessment procedures tailored for incarcerated individuals seeking services.

• Collaborate with correctional facilities' administrative staff to prioritize patient access to mental health care, ensuring appropriate housing and treatment disposition.

• Lead engaging group therapy sessions for individuals struggling with various behavioral health challenges within treatment units.

• Utilize evidence-based practices to develop and implement patient-centered treatment plans, making necessary adjustments based on ongoing evaluations.

• Complete all required clinical documentation, including progress notes and statistical reports, while adhering to legal and institutional compliance standards.

• Participate in weekly clinical supervision, collaborating with the Clinical Supervisor and integrating feedback into practice.

• Facilitate comprehensive case conferences and multidisciplinary treatment planning sessions, ensuring thorough communication and care coordination for patients.

• When applicable, conduct psychological testing and assessments to inform care strategies.
\n
• Mentor and support social work interns and student volunteers, fostering professional development within the behavioral health community.

• Stay informed on the latest treatment methodologies and participate in clinical rounds and treatment discussions.

• Proactively address patient needs through continuous engagement and follow-up care.

Patient Population / Client Focus\n

The Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor will primarily serve individuals within correctional health services who present a range of mental health concerns such as severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and behavioral problems. Utilizing a trauma-informed care approach, the MHC will work closely with patients to address their clinical needs effectively.

Qualifications\n

• Possession of a current and valid California license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

• A Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.

• A minimum of five years of full-time, paid professional experience providing direct client care in a behavioral health setting, with at least two years completed post-licensure.
