Director of Operations

My client is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead project operations across a growing restoration and reconstruction organization. This individual will have broad responsibility for the project lifecycle, overseeing projects from pre-sale through closeout while leading mitigation and reconstruction operations. The Director will work closely with estimators, project managers, administrators, field crews, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, profitably, and to a high standard of quality. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an operationally minded professional who brings strong experience in restoration, reconstruction, construction, estimating, or a related environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable balancing hands‑on project oversight with financial accountability, team leadership, client relationships, and subcontractor management. This individual will have significant ownership of departmental P&L, including revenue, expenses, estimating, profitability, and budgeting, while helping build scalable processes and systems to support continued growth. What You'll Do Lead day-to-day operations across mitigation and reconstruction projects from pre-sale through project closeout Oversee project execution to ensure safety, quality, profitability, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction Partner with business development to strengthen client relationships and support profitable revenue growth Develop detailed estimates, scopes of work, budgets, and project schedules within the timelines required for project opportunities and emergency response Own departmental P&L performance, including revenue, expenses, estimating, profitability, and budgeting Develop and refine operational and estimating procedures, systems, and resources to support increased sales volume and operational efficiency Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and trade partners to ensure adequate emergency response capabilities and successful project completion Develop detailed scopes of work for capital expenditure and reconstruction projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and budgets Prepare accurate cost estimates covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor costs, and contingency expenses Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to evaluate project requirements, scope, and costs Utilize estimating software, historical cost data, and industry knowledge to improve pricing accuracy and efficiency Perform risk assessments and cost-benefit analyses to evaluate project feasibility and identify opportunities to improve profitability Support procurement and contract negotiations by providing detailed cost breakdowns, pricing justification, and labor requirements Establish clear expectations and maintain consistent follow-up with subcontractors and trade partners to ensure projects remain within scope, schedule, and budget Maintain an active onsite presence to monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure project expectations are being met Participate in pre‑construction meetings to review project scope, property requirements, timelines, expectations, and communication plans Negotiate contract buyouts with subcontractors and trade partners while maintaining acceptable levels of profitability Identify, recruit, qualify, and develop relationships with reliable subcontractors and trade partners Lead, coach, and mentor project managers, estimators, and operations personnel to improve performance and professional development Monitor operational and financial performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, margins, and overall efficiency Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle Support emergency response efforts during periods of peak demand, including natural disasters and other large‑scale events Support broader organizational initiatives, including travel, marketing, sales, and business development activities, as needed What We Are Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered 7+ years of progressive experience in restoration, reconstruction, construction, project management, operations, estimating, or a related field Demonstrated experience leading multiple projects and managing project teams from pre-sale through completion Strong understanding of construction/restoration estimating, project budgeting, scheduling, and cost management Experience with departmental or project-level P&L responsibility, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and budgeting Strong leadership and team‑development skills with the ability to coach and mentor project managers, estimators, and field personnel Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders Strong negotiation skills, particularly related to subcontractor agreements, project buyouts, and pricing Excellent analytical, financial, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, employees, subcontractors, and senior leadership Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance operational execution with financial performance Willingness and ability to travel and provide support during periods of increased demand or emergency response Comfortable working in a hands‑on operational leadership role with a significant onsite presence Preferred Skills Experience in disaster restoration, mitigation, reconstruction, or emergency response preferred Experience managing both mitigation and reconstruction operations preferred Experience with restoration or construction estimating software preferred Experience managing subcontractor networks and trade partner relationships preferred Strong knowledge of construction practices, project costing, and contract negotiation preferred Experience with capital expenditure projects and large‑scale reconstruction projects preferred Familiarity with restoration industry standards, processes, and best practices preferred Experience leading operations through periods of significant growth or increased project volume preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr LOOP
