ABOUT HOFFMAN HYDRONICS

Hoffman Hydronics (HHY), formerly Heat Transfer Sales, has served the hydronics industry since 1971. HHY joined the Hoffman & Hoffman family of companies in February 2019 as a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) organization, and since 2022 has expanded beyond the Carolinas into Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. We provide hydronic HVAC and engineered plumbing solutions, including pumps, pump packages, pump controls, boilers, water heaters, and flow control and balance products, representing more than 18 leading manufacturers for commercial buildings, hospitals, K-12 schools, universities, and government facilities.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Director of Business Operations serves as a key member of the leadership team, driving organizational effectiveness and operational excellence across all Hoffman Hydronics locations. This role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution, managing critical initiatives that align with company objectives while improving efficiency across Hoffman Hydronics' 15+ branch locations spanning the Southeast. This is a high‑impact leadership role and strategic business partner to the President. The role carries direct management responsibility for assigned
staff and department leaders and will lead cross‑functional initiatives across the organization. Functional leaders retain accountability for the day‑to‑day management and performance of their respective departments; the Senior Director is accountable for improving the systems, processes, information, leadership discipline, and execution required to scale HHY profitably. The ideal candidate is a results‑oriented, intellectually curious leader who can bridge executive strategy with day‑to‑day operations in our dynamic, employee‑owned organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Planning & Execution

• Develop and execute strategic initiatives in partnership with the Hoffman Hydronics President and executive team, translating priorities into clear decision agendas, accountable owners, milestones, risks, and measurable execution plans
• Lead annual strategic planning process and facilitate quarterly business reviews
• Monitor KPIs and provide data‑driven insights to inform decision‑making
• Identify operational gaps and develop process improvement solutions to increase organizational effectiveness
• Develop and maintain a prioritized business‑improvement roadmap that connects company growth objectives to organizational capabilities, people, systems, processes, inventory, capacity, and investment decisions required to achieve them
• Participate in strategic manufacturer, customer, and market‑development discussions to build an understanding of HHY's customer segments, commercial model, supplier relationships, competitive position, and growth opportunities

Team & Department Leadership

• Directly manage assigned staff and department leaders, setting clear goals and holding teams accountable to results
• Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development to direct reports, with clear performance expectations and accountability mechanisms for assigned leaders and staff
• Oversee coordination and accountability across multiple departments and functions
• Build organizational bench strength through hiring, mentoring, and succession planning
• Guide the continued growth of Pump'nFlo (our fabrication division), including its production and sales functions, with a strategic focus on establishing it as a profitable cost center
• Oversee Pump'nFlo leadership on strategic direction

Operational Leadership

• Drive adoption of process improvements across branches to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
• Oversee integration of new branches into the Hoffman Hydronics operational framework
• Facilitate communication between corporate office and field operations across all 15+ branch locations
• Implement systems and standard operating procedures that support scalable growth while maintaining company culture

Executive Support

• Serve as strategic advisor and partner to the President on organizational and operational matters, including leadership commitments and follow‑through across strategic priorities
• Prepare presentations and communications for internal and external stakeholders
• Facilitate executive meetings and ensure follow‑through on action items
• Develop concise executive recommendations, business cases, implementation updates, risk assessments, and benefit‑realization reports for the President and leadership team

Business & Financial Management

• Own budgets and forecasts, and collaborate with the Controller to monitor financial performance across departments and branches
• Analyze business metrics to identify opportunities for financial and operational optimization
• Support business systems and technology improvements, including reporting, workflow automation, and data quality
• Support ESOP communication regarding ownership benefits
• Coordinate with all sister companies (H&H, HBT, HMS, and others) on joint initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or Operations Management required
• MBA or advanced degree required

Experience

• 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, strategy, or business management
• Proven experience directly managing staff and leading multiple departments or functions
• Demonstrated financial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, and forecasting
• Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry a plus
• Experience with ERP systems, business intelligence, or technology-enabled process improvement a plus
• Demonstrated success leading process improvement or operational excellence initiatives
• Proven track record managing complex, cross‑functional projects
• Multi‑location or multi‑branch business environment experience preferred

Technical Skills

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel (25-30%)
