Surgical Coordinator

Surgical CoordinatorSoftware Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Surgical Coordinator for a contract assignment with one of our premier healthcare clients in Washington, DC.Responsibilities:Coordinate clinic visits and surgical procedures for pediatric patients.Schedule procedures for Children's Hospital Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and affiliated hospitals or surgery centers.Obtain physician and facility pre-certifications and prior authorizations.Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, copays, deductibles, and required documentation before procedures.Coordinate appointments, diagnostic testing, anesthesia consultations, and surgical services to provide a seamless patient experience.Maintain accurate patient registration, demographic, insurance, and guardianship information.Communicate with parents, guardians, physicians, and internal departments regarding scheduling, authorizations, and procedural requirements.Coordinate vendor services and specialized equipment required for surgical procedures.Monitor case readiness and ensure all required documentation is complete prior to surgery.Support a collaborative team environment while delivering exceptional customer service to patients and families.Required Skills:High School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum of 3 years of progressive experience in patient registration, medical scheduling, insurance verification, or surgical scheduling within a healthcare settingSurgical scheduling experience requiredExperience with insurance authorization, pre-certification, and eligibility verification requiredExperience coordinating multiple providers, appointments, and procedures in a fast-paced clinical environmentProficiency with Cerner or a similar EMR scheduling systemProficient knowledge of medical insurance verification proceduresKnowledge of medical terminologyWorking knowledge of healthcare insurance, referrals, pre-certifications, authorizations, and billing processesProficiency with Microsoft Office applicationsStrong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skillsAbility to work effectively with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary teamsStrong attention to detail and documentation accuracySGA is a technology and resource solutions provider driven to stand out.
