Department of Cardiovascular Medicine Faculty Opportunities – University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), South of Houston/Galveston, TX The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at UTMB Health has expanded significantly in recent years. It now includes 33 faculty physicians across several sub‑specialties. The department values a positive, stable, and efficient work environment. Selected candidates will benefit from collaborative and intellectually stimulating interactions with faculty colleagues, fellows, and staff. Experience in clinical research endeavors is highly desirable, though not required. Position Titles General Cardiologist – Assistant Professor or higher. Must be board certified (or BE) in ABIM, completed a General Cardiology Fellowship, and hold a valid unrestricted Texas state medical license. Responsible for educating and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students. Clinical research experience is a plus. Heart Failure‑Transplant Cardiologist – Assistant Professor or higher. Must be board certified or eligible in ABIM, hold a structured heart failure fellowship, and possess a valid Texas state medical license. Will work in inpatient and outpatient clinical duties with the Sealy Heart and Vascular Institute’s growing heart transplant and VAD program. Clinical research experience is a plus. Advanced Cardiac‑Imaging Cardiologist – Assistant Professor or higher. Must have Level‑3 fellowship training in Cardiac MRI and Cardiac CT, board certified or eligible in ABIM, and hold a valid Texas state medical license. Preference for structural echocardiography, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology certifications. Primary clinical focus on advanced imaging with limited inpatient consultative services. Interventional Cardiologist – Assistant Professor or higher. Must be board certified (or BE) in ABIM, completed General and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship, and hold a valid unrestricted Texas state medical license. Desired skills: endovascular intervention, CHI, Interventional heart failure, catheter‑based pulmonary embolism. Electrophysiology Cardiologist – Any academic rank. Must be board certified (or BE) in ABIM and EP, completed a General Cardiology Fellowship, and hold a valid unrestricted Texas state medical license. Will provide care across multiple campuses and mentor trainees.
