Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology - Mount Sinai Queens - Full Time Days

Job Description A nurse practitioner (NP) is an advanced‑practice registered nurse who has earned NP certification and provides independent diagnosis, treatment, and prescribing within their specialty area. NPs work without physician oversight on medical orders, progress notes, and treatment plans. Responsibilities Assess patients and families through comprehensive health histories and physical examinations. Order diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, laboratory studies, and referrals and prescribe medication regimens. Interpret findings and adjust the plan of care according to accepted standards and practice guidelines. Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute or chronic illnesses. Document findings and care plans in the patient’s medical record. Consult with physicians per established protocols. Initiate referrals to specialty services and promote continuity of care. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement activities. Education and Certification Requirements Current New York State RN license. Certification as an NP by the New York State Department of Education (graduate of a state‑registered NP program or national certification). Completed pharmacy component and required training in prescription laws. Collaborative or collaborative‑relationship agreement with a physician if practice hours are less than 3,600. Master’s degree or appropriately credentialed supplemental education; national board certification in Advanced Practice Nursing required for most appointments. DEA registration and basic life‑support (BLS); advanced cardiac (ACLS), pediatric (PALS), neonatal (NALS), and neonatal resuscitation (NRP) certificates as required by specialty. Experience Minimum two years of nursing experience in the specialty area; at least one year of NP experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities History taking and physical assessment. Competency documentation for specialty procedures. Apply nursing research and evidence‑based practice. Manage and coordinate a patient caseload. Collaborate effectively within a health‑care team. Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical‑thinking skills. Compensation Salary range: $129,000 – $140,000 annually. Actual salary depends on experience, education and operational needs.
