Overview Mobile Diesel Technician II – DOT Management Level. Conducts licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light electronic and hydraulic repairs, and diagnostic work on light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers in a mobile field environment. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems using handheld computers, pressure gauges, air conditioning systems, and other diagnostic instruments. Conduct road tests to verify correct operation and safety. Inspect, test, and use diagnostic instruments to identify malfunctions. Manage parts inventory, perform periodic reconciliation, and obtain parts from approved vendors. Maintain safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections on company‑issued service trucks. Work independently, manage daily schedule, prioritize tasks, and maintain productivity. Communicate with clients, assess needs, resolve problems, and provide assistance. Document work, upload pictures, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders via the TRAIT application and iOS device. Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation. Follow safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Requirements High School Diploma or GED, with ≥3 years in a related field (or equivalently a degree/certification plus 5 years of experience). Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for the role. Achieve Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, DOT physical, and hold a valid DOT medical card with at least 4 months remaining (or complete a DOT physical if less). Must be ≥21 years old. Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. ASE 608/609 (Diesel Emission Systems) Skills and Abilities Apply logic and reasoning to solve problems and evaluate alternatives. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Communicate clearly, organize information, and engage in effective two‑way communication. Determine appropriate tools and equipment; assess object distance and judgment of proximity.
