We're seeking an experienced and results-driven Internet Sales Director to own the strategic direction of our internet sales channel. This role sets the vision and process for internet lead generation and conversion, oversees the Internet Sales Manager and internet sales team, and partners with dealership leadership and marketing to drive overall sales performance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in dealership operations and sales, a proven track record building internet sales strategy from the ground up, and the ability to lead through others.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall strategy for internet lead generation, conversion, and sales performance across the dealership
• Set processes and standards for lead response, follow-up, and conversion, and hold the Internet Sales Manager and team accountable to them
• Directly oversee and support the Internet Sales Manager, providing guidance on team coaching, performance management, and daily operations
• Analyze KPIs (lead appointment set rates, closing rates, sales volume, average gross profit) at a department level to identify trends and drive strategic decisions
• Develop and execute lead generation strategy across online platforms, third-party listings, social media, and the dealership's website
• Set pricing and inventory merchandising strategy for online promotion in partnership with the used car department and management
• Partner with dealership management and marketing leadership to align internet sales strategy with broader sales and marketing goals
• Report on internet sales channel performance to dealership leadership and recommend investments or process changes
• Ensure a high-level, consistent customer experience across the internet sales funnel, from initial contact through delivery

• Proven experience in internet sales management or leadership in the automotive industry, with a strong understanding of internet lead management, desking deals, and sales strategy
• Experience building or scaling an internet sales department or process, ideally including managing a manager or team lead
• In-depth understanding of inventory, pricing, and customer needs
• Strong leadership and team development skills, with a track record of training and motivating sales managers/teams to achieve high performance
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and close deals from internet leads, optimizing the sales process for maximum efficiency
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead by example
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with customers and team members
• Knowledge of dealership management systems, CRM platforms, and internet sales tools
• Results-driven with a focus on performance metrics and achieving sales goals
• Strong understanding of automotive finance and the desking process

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Internet Sales Director at a Ford or domestic dealership
• Experience managing an Internet Sales Manager or similar direct report
• Familiarity with Ford-specific inventory, pricing, and incentive programs
• Track record of building high-converting internet sales processes from the ground up
