Finance Officer

Position Details Position Title: Finance Officer College/Division: Administration and Finance Department: 530465-ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL REPORTING Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico, United States Target Salary: $67,161.67 – $87,310.17, commensurate with qualifications Appointment: Full-time Equivalency 1.0 FLSA Status: Exempt Bargaining Unit: Not a bargaining unit with AFSCME Standard Work Schedule: M-F, 8-5 Job Duties and Responsibilities: This position is the primary system-wide authority on F&A (indirect cost) and internal service rates. It manages the collection of accounting information and classification of that data to calculate the actual rates the university experienced in indirect costs and fringe benefits. This involves a thorough understanding of all university activities to make proper classifications. The role reports the calculations to the Office of Naval Research and works with DCAA for the annual audit of the calculations. It works with staff across the university to determine significant activities that will change future calculations and develop proposed rates for submission. The position manages the Cost Accounting staff, which assists in F&A and internal service center rates, as well as bank reconciliation and subrecipient monitoring. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Associate's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree + 6 years of relevant experience. Master's degree or higher preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Batch’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field with at least 15 credit hours of accounting coursework and six years of directly related experience. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Environment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required. Lifting Requirements: Handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds; some standing or walking. Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
