JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Lead Software Engineer – MM Team Location: US Department: Payments Engineering Reports To: Ravi Vemula, VP, Payments Engineering Role Overview Green Dot Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the MM (Money Movement) Team, supporting mission-critical payment systems and transaction workflows. This role will drive technical leadership across backend services, API integrations, and platform reliability, aligning with Green Dot’s Career Framework Level 5–6. The ideal candidate will lead engineering efforts that ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance systems for real-time money movement. Key Responsibilities Architect and develop backend services and APIs for payment processing, settlement, and reconciliation. Lead technical initiatives to improve system scalability, fault tolerance, and transaction throughput. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including InfoSec, DevOps, QA, and Product to ensure secure and compliant implementations. Implement observability and monitoring solutions to ensure SLA adherence and rapid incident response. Drive automation across CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure provisioning. Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across the MM domain. Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and contribute to roadmap planning. Technical Qualifications 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership role. Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Go; experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks. Strong understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth2, and microservices architecture. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform). Familiarity with payment gateways, ACH, card networks, and transaction protocols. Knowledge of event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and distributed systems. Experience implementing observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana). Understanding of security and compliance standards (PCI DSS, SOC 2) in financial services. Career Framework Alignment Demonstrates strategic thinking and technical influence across teams. PAY RANGE

The targeted base salary for this position is $139,900 to $199,300 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
