Teacher, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) 3YR (2026-2027 School Year) Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026 Salary: Min: $62,750 (Based on 2025‑2026 Pay Scale) Job Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher 3YR (2026‑2027 School Year) Reports To: Principal Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Pay Grade: Teacher Salary Scale Primary Purpose: The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher position is designed for the educator who strives to positively impact classroom success for preschool students eligible for special education supports and services in a general education preschool setting. The ECSE Teacher is responsible for providing preschool students with a comprehensive continuum of services aged 3‑5, with identified delays in one or more developmental areas. The role includes instruction in pre‑academics, social‑emotional skills, self‑help skills, and communication and motor skills. The continuum of services contains a blended pre‑k inclusion (co‑teaching) model and self‑contained settings (ECSE Self‑Contained). The work is driven by general and alternative preschool curricula and district policies and procedures that guide instruction and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university Required: Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements and level assigned Preferred: One year of student teaching or approved internship Preferred: Valid Texas ESL teaching certificate Special Knowledge/Skills Experience working with students eligible for special education supports and services Knowledge of Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting, implementation, and monitoring Knowledge of curriculum and instruction for early childhood Ability to instruct students, manage behavior, and collaborate in a learning environment Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Strong technology skills including integration Knowledge of early childhood development and instruction Flexible and patient Major Responsibilities and Duties Develop and implement instructional plans to assist students in accessing the general curriculum and meeting curriculum standards Actively participate in Data Drive Action Planning (DDAP) Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings with general education teachers to plan, practice, and provide accommodations for student needs Co‑teach with general education teachers according to trained models of collaborative instruction and support Prepare and document lesson plans in accordance with district standards and procedures Teach alternate curriculum based on prerequisites and essential skills of the TEKS Teach student pre‑academics, social‑emotional skills, self‑help independence, communication, and motor skills Provide opportunities for students to engage with peers in academic and non‑academic settings Implement IEPs, monitor, and document student progress Provide parents with written information on IEP goal progress at least once per grading period, per district and ARD guidelines Maintain confidentiality of student and parent information Develop IEP goals and objectives based on formal and informal evaluation methods Maintain appropriate data collection each grading period and in line with grade‑level grading expectations, using various data tools to assess student skills and progress Maintain complete and accurate paperwork needed for compliance purposes in the campus student folder, documenting services, time, and description of services relative to the IEP Maintain lesson plans and data collection forms indicating objectives addressed, activities planned, and attendance Prepare and incorporate lesson plan materials for IEP goals and objectives Maintain professional competence through staff development activities, curriculum meetings, and other opportunities Serves as the students’ Case Manager including responsibility for: Coordinates and documents the Admission, Review and Dismissal/Individual Education Plan Committee for each student Ensures students have appropriately written Standards‑Based Individualized Education Programs (SBIEP) Ensures fidelity of IEP implementation across all school settings Evaluates and monitors individual student progress based on academic and behavioral data collection Participates in placement decisions based on data presented to the committee Maintains documentation of services implementation per the IEP Ensures distribution of appropriate paperwork (accommodations and deliberations) to all assigned teachers (both general and special education) Provide ongoing support and training for the ECSE paraprofessional Collaborate with campus personnel and Related Services to provide appropriate services for students with suspected or confirmed communication disabilities Provide information to parents about services available through Medicaid, the State of Texas, and other community organizations Perform all other duties as assigned Working Conditions The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, reaching, and repetitive hand motions, and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. May be required to lift or position students with physical disabilities, control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non‑ambulatory students. Mental demands include the ability to maintain emotional control under stress, solve problems, deal with a variety of situations, interpret a variety of data, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
