Manual MachinistThe Manual Machinist is responsible for operating manual machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to create precision parts and components. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work with technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. The Manual Machinist will be expected to work independently or as part of a team to meet production goals, ensuring quality and safety standards are adhered to at all times.Key Responsibilities:Set up and operate various manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, to produce high-quality parts.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequence of operations, and machine setup.Select appropriate tools, speeds, feeds, and cutting parameters for each job.Inspect and measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet specifications.Maintain accurate records of work completed, including time tracking and any deviations or issues encountered during production.Perform regular machine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines to ensure optimal performance.Troubleshoot machine issues, identify defects, and make adjustments or repairs as needed.Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all company health and safety standards.Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to ensure product specifications are met and resolve any production-related issues.Continuously monitor and adjust machining processes for efficiency and quality improvements.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or apprenticeship in machining or a related field preferred.Experience in operating manual machining equipment preferred.Strong understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tooling.Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.Basic computer skills for record-keeping and job tracking.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.Dexterity and manual skill to operate machinery and handle tools.Must be able to work in a noisy, industrial environment.Ability to distinguish between colors for wiring and part identification.Working Conditions:Full-time, with potential overtime as needed.Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.Compensation and Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.Additional Information:Sealed Air is committed to attracting, selecting, and developing talent that reflects the diversity of the communities and customers we serve.
