Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Multiple positions are available for the 2026-2027 school year, supporting K-12 students in self-contained and resource classroom environments. You’ll fill key roles tailored for Cognitive Impairment (CI), Emotional Impairment (EI), and Learning Disabilities (LD) across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Class sizes are capped at 22 students, and you’ll benefit from robust support including paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, dedicated mentors, and ongoing professional development.

As a vital part of a caring, urban school community, your expertise will help empower students with unique learning needs. A deep understanding of Michigan’s Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations is highly valued, along with the ability to thoughtfully address challenges facing urban youth and their families.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with preferred endorsements in EI, CI, LD, or MDE’s Early Childhood endorsement ZA and an additional area of special education
• Experience supporting students in K-12 settings, ideally in urban districts
• Ability to manage caseloads that may vary based on student needs and school assignment
• Knowledge of inclusive classroom best practices and collaboration with paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to fostering equity and student success
• Official university transcripts required prior to onboarding

Responsibilities:

• Teach in self-contained and resource classrooms, ensuring individualized support and curriculum adaptation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participating in IEP development and implementation
• Build partnerships with families, support services, and para staff
• Engage in ongoing training led by academic and special education leaders
