Senior Director, Marketing Technology & Orchestration

Job Description

Location: Schaumburg, IL (hybrid, about 3 days a week onsite)

Base salary: $190,000–$220,000

Bonus: 20–30% annual bonus opportunity

The Opportunity

I'm recruiting a Senior Director of Marketing Technology & Orchestration for an established, profitable transportation company. Digital acquisition drives its revenue: about $14 million a year in paid media feeds a website, an online quote flow, a sales contact center and, finally, booked orders.

The company runs that journey on Salesforce, with Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud and Commerce Cloud at the core. The tools are in place. What's missing is the person who makes them work together.

The Role

You'll lead Marketing Orchestration, one of three pillars in a restructured marketing organization, and report to the CMO. The other two pillars, Brand and Customer and Omnichannel Growth, decide what marketing needs to do. You make sure the systems, data and delivery team can do it reliably, quickly and measurably.

This is a leadership role. You'll set the roadmap, make the architecture calls and direct the developers. If you like getting into Journey Builder or a data model yourself, there's room for it, but it isn't required.

What You'll Own

\n
• The marketing technology roadmap across Salesforce and connected systems, including what to build, configure, buy or retire
\n
• Customer and marketing data: identity resolution, data standards and one trusted view of attribution from ad click to delivered order
\n
• Lifecycle and journey architecture, including consent and communication preferences across brands
\n
• Website and quote-flow technology: performance, testing and self-service, so marketing can launch pages and journeys without a ticket
\n
• Workflow governance, campaign operations, QA and UAT
\n
• The IT partnership: who owns what, and how work moves between marketing and engineering
\n
• Operational metrics that show what is working and what needs fixing
\n

The Team

You'll lead a nearshore developer pod in Latin America. You'll set how it works, what it builds first and how it's held accountable. You'll work daily with the growth, website, lifecycle and creative leads, and with sales and operations leadership.

What You Bring

\n
• Leadership of a marketing technology, CRM or marketing automation function, with real ownership of the stack and the roadmap
\n
• Deep, hands-on experience with at least one of Salesforce Data Cloud, Marketing Cloud or Commerce Cloud, and a working understanding of how the three fit together
\n
• A record of fixing messy data and broken processes, then building the integrations and standards that keep them fixed
\n
• Experience directing developers, onshore, offshore or through an agency, and improving how they deliver
\n
• The judgment to choose the simplest solution that works, push back on unnecessary custom builds and use AI and automation to remove manual work
\n
• Clear, plain communication with marketers, sales leaders and engineers
\n
• Experience in a private equity-backed company is a plus
\n

• A software product manager whose background is a company's core application rather than its marketing systems
\n
• A campaign or channel marketer whose work ends at sending emails or launching ads
\n
• A Salesforce architect or consultant who hasn't owned outcomes inside a business
\n
• A project manager whose main output is tickets and status reports
\n

Location and Work Authorization

This role is based in the Chicago area, about three days a week in Schaumburg.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. Direct candidates only; no third-party submissions.
