HR Generalist | Behavioral Health | Clifton, NJ | $70,000–$75,000

Our client, a respected behavioral health organization in Clifton, NJ, is looking for an HR Generalist who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and helping people navigate complex situations with empathy, professionalism, and confidence.

This organization is known for its peer support programs, connecting individuals in recovery with specialists who have walked a similar path. That mission extends to their employees, too. HR is viewed as a trusted partner, and you'll play an important role in creating a positive employee experience.

You'll work directly with an experienced HR Director who believes in mentorship, collaboration, and giving people the support they need to grow—not micromanagement.

What You'll Do

• Lead employee relations conversations with professionalism, discretion, and compassion
• Administer leave of absence processes and assist with unemployment claims
• Maintain employee records while ensuring HRIS and EMR data integrity
• Partner with the HR Director on workplace investigations
• Prepare HR reports, including headcount, turnover, and payroll allocation data
• Support onboarding and create a positive new hire experience
• Assist with payroll initiatives as the HR function continues to evolve
• Serve as a trusted resource for employees by responding to HR inquiries with accuracy and care

What We're Looking For

• 2-4 years of Human Resources experience in a corporate environment
• Experience handling employee relations and navigating sensitive conversations
• Exposure to leave of absence administration (additional training provided)
• Experience with unemployment claims is a plus
• Payroll experience is helpful but not required
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
• Experience working with HRIS and/or EMR systems
• Someone who takes ownership, asks thoughtful questions, and enjoys being part of a collaborative team
• A sense of humor and a positive attitude—because while the work is meaningful, it's important to enjoy the people you work with
