General Manager, Consumer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a General Manager, Consumer based in the United States.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity to build and scale a consumer business with significant growth potential.
You’ll own the strategy, performance, and day-to-day execution across growth, marketing, operations, analytics, and technology.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll help shape the direction of the business and influence key executive-level decisions.
The role combines entrepreneurial ownership with hands-on operational leadership in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment.
You’ll use customer insights, funnel metrics, and unit economics to identify opportunities and accelerate sustainable growth.
Working closely with Product, Engineering, and Design, you’ll translate customer and business needs into scalable technology and experiences.
You’ll also lead and develop a growing team while helping build a consumer service designed to create meaningful social impact.

Accountabilities

• Own the overall consumer business strategy and execution, with accountability for growth, marketing, operations, customer experience, and business performance.
• Partner closely with the CEO and executive leadership on consumer strategy, performance reviews, major business decisions, and, when appropriate, Board-level discussions.
• Lead customer acquisition across paid media, internal marketing initiatives, local referral programs, community channels, and emerging growth opportunities.
• Develop, test, and optimize acquisition strategies and channels using experimentation, performance data, and customer insights.
• Oversee consumer operations, including activation, inbound support, visit success, and the development of scalable processes that deliver a strong customer experience.
• Serve as the central program leader across consumer initiatives, translating strategic priorities into clear owners, milestones, deliverables, and execution plans.
• Build and leverage dashboards, funnel metrics, operating KPIs, and unit economics to identify opportunities, diagnose challenges, and guide business decisions.
• Translate customer and operational needs into technology requirements and priorities, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Design to build solutions that enable scalable growth.
• Lead and develop the existing consumer team of approximately 10 people, strengthening capabilities, defining organizational needs, and scaling the team as the business grows.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, experimentation, continuous learning, and high performance across the consumer organization.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience across general management, growth, marketing, operations, business operations, or related leadership functions.
• Demonstrated experience building and scaling a consumer business, product, service, or new business line in an ambiguous and fast-moving environment.
• Strong understanding of customer acquisition, growth marketing, funnel optimization, retention, conversion, and unit economics, including metrics such as CAC.
• Proven 0-to-1 mindset with the ability to create structure, establish priorities, and turn ambiguous opportunities into measurable business outcomes.
• Experience leading multiple cross-functional functions and driving execution across growth, marketing, operations, analytics, and technology.
• Strategic and hands-on leadership style, with the ability to set long-term direction while personally driving critical initiatives and solving operational challenges.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with the ability to use business metrics to identify opportunities and improve performance.
• Proven experience building, developing, and scaling high-performing teams while creating accountability and maintaining strong employee engagement.
• Excellent executive communication skills, with the confidence to collaborate with senior leaders and present complex business topics to executive or Board audiences.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to align diverse stakeholders around common objectives.
• Consumer marketplace, consumer services, or similar experience is preferred.
• Comfortable operating in a people-first environment that values transparency, authenticity, inclusivity, ownership, and entrepreneurial thinking.
