Science General Education Teacher | New Orleans, Louisiana

Job Description

Inspire the next generation of scientific thinkers as a General Education Science Teacher in a welcoming high school setting near New Orleans. Bring your passion for education and science to a contract assignment for the 2026-2027 school year and make a meaningful impact in students’ academic journeys.

Required Qualifications:

Valid and active Louisiana DOE Certification in General Education Science (Temporary Authority to Teach not accepted)
Background in teaching science courses at the high school level preferred
Ability to manage dynamic classrooms and foster curiosity through engaging lesson plans
Commitment to maintaining strong classroom management and effective communication with students, staff, and families
Availability for full-time commitment: 35 hours per week, M–F, following the school calendar
Willingness to complete district-required drug screening and fingerprinting (in addition to credentialing processes)

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver science curriculum aligned with state standards for high school students
Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs and styles
Implement formative and summative assessments to gauge student understanding and growth
Collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and families to support student success
Participate in school events, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance
