Role Summary With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision of licensed clinical team members, addressing the physiological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients served by Jefferson Health. Responsibilities Communicate with and support the interprofessional team, patients, families, and designated care partners. Perform validated and designated direct and indirect patient care activities under licensed clinical team direction. Actively promote and maintain a safe patient care environment. Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment to ensure efficient unit operations. Conduct patient rounds as assigned, anticipate patient needs, and respond promptly to call lights or pages. May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs. Facilitate, under provider direction, clinical exams including use of peripheral devices, technology, and software for comprehensive virtual care encounters. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care needs within an interprofessional team. Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of the role. Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life and the ability to apply this knowledge to patients daily. Knowledge of patient risks in a healthcare environment and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family, and/or care partner. Knowledge of working with people from diverse backgrounds, conveying respect, and connecting effectively. Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques to transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas and needs. Use partnership language with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. BLS – Basic Life Support. AHA – American Heart Association certification. Additional Qualifications LVHN colleagues must successfully complete LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course. Physical Demands Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Includes push/pull patients on bed or stretcher requiring 29 lbs. push force and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequent to continuous standing and walking. Patient transporters walk 8–10 miles per shift. May be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR as part of the role.
