Account Manager

Account Manager – Purchasing Programs (On-site in Sugar Land, Texas) Do you enjoy building strong client relationships, solving problems, and keeping commitments, but don’t want a role centered on cold calling or sales quotas? My client is looking for an Account Manager to support its established B2B purchasing programs. This person will serve as the trusted point of contact for existing clients, their Purchasing Departments, and participating suppliers. Your success will be measured by client satisfaction, retention, responsiveness, and dependable follow-through. Of course, if you happen to find new logos, you will be compensated for it! What You Will Do Build trusted relationships with Purchasing Department leaders, program administrators and other client contacts. Develop a strong understanding of each client’s purchasing program, participating suppliers and service expectations. Maintain regular client communication and lead recurring account check-ins. Coordinate responses to questions involving orders, deliveries, backorders, returns, credits and billing. Track open issues, establish clear ownership and keep clients informed through resolution. Work with participating suppliers to resolve service concerns and follow through on commitments. Support purchasing sites, supplier catalogs, user access and established program processes. Prepare account reports and summarize service activity, outstanding issues and completed actions. Identify relationship risks, recurring service issues and opportunities to improve the client experience. Maintain accurate account records within CRM and other designated systems. Collaborate with operations, accounting, technical support and company leadership. What We Are Looking For Three or more years of experience in account management, client relations, customer service or purchasing support. Demonstrated success maintaining existing client relationships and coordinating requests across multiple teams. Strong communication, organization and follow-through. The ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities without losing attention to detail. A professional, service-oriented approach to handling client questions and concerns. Experience working with suppliers, Purchasing Departments or purchasing programs is preferred. Higher education experience is helpful but not required. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience using CRM systems, online purchasing platforms or supplier portals. Familiarity with purchase orders, invoices, returns, credits and supplier catalogs is preferred. Technical sales, programming, and system integration experience are not required. However, experience supporting higher education institutions, Purchasing Departments, or supplier programs is preferred.
