Senior M&A Advisor

Job Description

Most sell-side advisors spend half their week finding the next seller. At BizDepot, that's our job, not yours.

We sell owner-run service businesses and franchises: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, waste hauling, contractors and multi-unit franchise portfolios. Our deals run $1M to $10M in EBITDA, or $4M to $100M in enterprise value. We've been doing this since 2003 and have closed more than $1 billion in transactions.

We sign more sellers every month than our advisors can close. We're hiring a senior advisor to close them, and to grow into our next Managing Director.

What's already done when a deal reaches you

• The owner has signed an engagement agreement with us.

• The financials are recast and the CIM is written.
\n
• Buyers are already coming in. Our private buyer network and our outbound team bring PE platforms, consolidators and strategic buyers to the table.

What you do: You run the deal from the first buyer meeting to close. You negotiate the offers and the LOI, structure the deal (earnouts, seller notes, working capital), manage diligence and the quality of earnings, and keep the deal together when a buyer tries to retrade.

On most deals, the buyers come from our team. On the largest and hardest ones, you go find them yourself: PE platforms, regional consolidators and strategics. We give you the systems for that outreach. 

You work for the seller, and you fight for them. We film a review with every owner after closing, and we want every one of them to be glad they hired us.

Where this goes You join as a Senior M&A Advisor. Within 2 to 3 years, you become Managing Director. You lead the advisory team, hire and develop the advisors who come after you, and earn a share of every deal the team closes on top of your own.

Pay Commission on every deal you close. We hand our senior advisors enough signed deals to earn $500K+ in their first year , and it grows as you close more. As Managing Director, you also earn on every deal your team closes, and your pay crosses 7 figures . 

You're a fit if

• You've closed multiple sell-side deals between 4M and $100M in the last 2 years.

• You've sold companies to PE platforms, consolidators and strategic buyers, not only individual buyers.
\n
• You've handled quality of earnings, working capital pegs, earnouts and buyer retrades, and kept the deal alive.
\n
• You negotiate hard for the seller, and sellers trust you.
\n
• You know other strong dealmakers and want to build a team.
\n

A sell-side or buy-side background works, as long as you've negotiated deals like these. If most of your deals are under $2M, or you've never sold a company to an institutional buyer, this role isn't the right fit.
