RN Clinical - Cystic Fibrosis Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

Overview As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients. The RN is accountable for coordinating patient care and education to the patient and family in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices in a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment. This role is specifically focused on the Cystic Fibrosis patient population. Essential Duties Conduct morning and/or evening rounds as assigned to coordinate inpatient care, develop care plans, and collaborate with the attending physician and other team members for discharge planning. Perform clinic history and physical examinations, present pertinent information to the attending physician, and contribute to diagnosis and treatment plans. Oversee and coordinate discharge of patients from the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. Perform wound care, accucheck, removal of drain tubes, and other techniques appropriate for patient care. Facilitate patient flow in the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic by assisting office staff in placing patients in exam rooms, helping patients fill out questionnaires, and preparing gowns. Ensure completion of all paperwork pertaining to patient visits. Assist with processing orders, procedures, medications, and other patient indicators according to standardized procedures under physician direction. Communicate with referring agencies, physicians, insurance case managers, home health agencies, pharmacies, patients, families, and other entities regarding patient care. Establish and maintain staff and physician relationships. Support continuous customer satisfaction through hospital-wide service excellence standards. Act as an agent of change and promote change as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development. Assess individual/family needs, facilitate the development of a plan of care, coordinate services across service sites, provide patient/family education, and evaluate intervention effectiveness. Serve as a mentor and resource to staff, students, and house staff involved in caring for assigned populations. Engage in continuing education for professional growth. May be assigned on‑call duties to relieve existing schedules of residents and attending physicians. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN). Grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently. Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to understand, follow, and successfully perform duties such as whole blood collection and apheresis procedures in accordance with administrative and clinical policies, regulations, and procedures. Preferred Qualifications 2 years of experience in an acute care setting (immediately prior to application strongly preferred). Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse – RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (required within LA City only).
