This is a 9-month tenure track position. Primary Function of Organizational Unit N.C. The Department of Family And Consumer Sciences is one of fouracademic departments within the College of Agriculture andEnvironmental Sciences and is accredited by the AmericanAssociation of Family and Consumer Sciences ( AAFCS ). Thedepartment offers Bachelor of Science degrees in three programareas with the following six distinct specialty emphases: childdevelopment and family relations, child development early educationand family studies (birth-kindergarten licensure), consumersciences, fashion merchandising and design, nutrition and foodscience. Additionally, the department offers a Master of Sciencedegree in food and nutritional sciences, a Master of Arts inTeaching in family and consumer sciences education, and a Master ofArts in Teaching in child development early education and familystudies (birth-kindergarten licensure). Faculty members areactively engaged in research that contributes to the body ofknowledge in the areas of nutrition, food science, housing,apparel, textiles and in child and family studies. Minimum Requirements Must hold a Doctorate in Food Science or Nutritional Science or aclosely related field with a focus on food biochemistry. Teachingexperience with strong technology skills in classrooms, a record ofscholarly achievement, and grant writing experience areessential. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training,Education Minimum of 3 years teaching at the undergraduate or graduate levelpreferred The ideal candidate will bring interdisciplinary expertise thatbridges food science and nutrition and have experience teachinggraduate and undergraduate courses (such as food microbiology andbio-technology, food safety and sanitation, risk assessment, foodprotection and defense).
