Job TitleCity/State: White Plains, New YorkDepartment: Lab Anatomic PathologyWork Shift: EveningWork Days: DAYS VARYScheduled Hours: Hours VaryPay Rate/Range: $48.1400 - $61.8900/HRFor positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors.Essential FunctionsUnderstands and adheres to the WPH performance standards, policies, and behaviorsFollows the laboratory's pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintaining records of these testsMaintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimensAdheres to the laboratory's quality assurance procedures, including documenting all: quality control activities, including quality control testing and calibrations, instrument equipment verifications, and routine as well as preventative maintenance.Follows laboratory's policies and procedures Whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established performance specifications.Identifying and documenting problems that may adversely affect test performance and notifying the supervisor, assistant director or director and documenting all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specificationsEnsures the accuracy and quality of all results from pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing.Notifies and documents clinicians and patient units of all critical values and maintains the laboratory STAT turn around time requirements.Understands and participates in standard operating procedures, proficiency testing, inspection audits, quality program including reporting non-conformances.Evaluates test results for abnormalities and confirms those results per department protocols where required.Participates in validations, training, and competency assessments as required.Responsible for inventory management of lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirement.Completes all annual mandatory training, in-services, and ongoing education as required.Participates in regulatory readiness for CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor Degree Bachelor's or higher RequiredFlexibilityOrganizedAdaptabilityAttention to DetailStress ToleranceTroubleshooting skillsCommunication skills both verbal and writtenSection testing training and competency assessments are maintained by the section laboratory supervisor for all assigned disciplinesSections are listed below:Generalists – performs Hematology, Coagulation, Chemistry/Immunology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Blood Bank specialtiesChemistry/Immunology – Performs Chemistry, Specialized Chemistry, Immunology, Molecular, and Serology testingHematology – Performs Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis testingMicrobiology – Performs Bacteriology, Parasitology, Virology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Susceptibilities, and Molecular testingBlood Bank – Performs blood bank testing related to transfusion medicine and blood product distribution.Anatomic Pathology – Performs histological procedures for routine, specials stains, and immunohistochemistryCLAB Clinical Lab Technologist - New York State Upon Hire Required orASCP - International Medical Laboratory Scientist - AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR CLINICAL PATHOLOGY (ASCP) PreferredNYS Histotechnologist License: Anatomic Pathology section only Upon Hire RequiredWhite Plains Hospital Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
