About the Position

Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Stepdown experience Telemetry experience Description: The unit primarily cares for patients undergoing cardiovascular and vascular surgeries. This includes open-heart procedures, thoracic surgeries, esophageal surgeries, and vascular interventions. The patient population also includes overflow medical cardiology patients with conditions such as heart failure, chest pain, and sepsis. The unit consists of 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds. There are approximately 100 staff members including RN, PCT, and charge nurses across shifts. The typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Staffing on nights includes a charge RN and several RNs and PCTs. Common equipment used includes IV pumps and various lifts. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner. Candidates must possess the required skill set and experience to be considered for this role. Preferred qualifications include prior experience with cardiovascular surgeries and CVICU experience. The best personality fit for this role is a team player who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is flexible. No on-call requirements are present for this position. Minimum weekend shifts required are six per six-week scheduling period. Flexibility to work holidays is expected.
