Family Law Attorney — Plano, Texas
The Radchenko Law Group, PLLC, 5800 Tennyson Parkway, Suite 675, Plano, TX 75024
Full-time, In-office, Compensation commensurate with experience
The short version
We are looking for a lawyer who wants to try cases.
Not someone who wants to paper a file for two years and settle on the courthouse steps. Someone who wants to stand up, examine a witness, get the ruling, and get better every time. If that is you, we will put you in the courtroom and teach you how to win there.
About the firm
We are a Texas family law firm serving Collin, Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties. Clients come to us in the hardest season of their lives — divorces, custody fights, protective orders — and they need someone who can actually handle a contested hearing, not just draft around one.
We are small enough that your work matters immediately and lean enough that there is nowhere to hide. That is the trade: real responsibility, real feedback, real time on your feet.
What you'll do
Carry your own docket of divorce, SAPCR, custody, modification, and enforcement matters
Handle temporary orders hearings, mediations, and contested final trials
Take and defend depositions; draft and argue discovery motions
Draft pleadings, decrees, and orders that hold up when opposing counsel reads them closely
Work directly with clients — set expectations, deliver hard news, keep them steady
Second-chair complex trials until you're ready to first-chair them, then first-chair them
What we're looking for
Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas (or eligible for admission before your start date)
Trial ambition above all. We are open to years of experience. We will consider a strong newer lawyer with real hearing time and a senior associate ready to run a trial docket. What we will not compromise on is the desire to be a trial attorney
A hard worker who wants to be taught. You take the note, you fix it, you don't need it twice.
Sound judgment under pressure and genuine care for clients in crisis
Strong writing — clear, tight, persuasive
Organized enough to run a docket without dropping a deadline
Family law experience is a plus, but drive, work ethic, and courtroom instinct matter more
What you'll get
Real courtroom time, quickly — not after you've "paid your dues"
Direct mentorship from Halina Radchenko on trial strategy, cross-examination, and case theory
A voice in how cases are staffed and tried
Modern practice infrastructure so you spend your hours on lawyering, not administration
Compensation commensurate with experience, plus benefits and performance bonus
A firm that will grow with you — this role is built to become a senior trial position
To apply
Send the following with the subject line "Family Law Attorney — Plano" :
Your resume
A writing sample (a brief, motion, or pleading you drafted — redacted as needed)
A short note telling us why you want to be a trial lawyer
No cover letter formalities required. Tell us plainly what you want to build and why here.
The Radchenko Law Group, PLLC is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

Case Management and Strategy
Manage an assigned caseload of divorce, SAPCR, custody, modification, and enforcement matters from initial consultation through entry of final orders

Continuously evaluate settlement posture and advise clients on risk, cost, timeline, and likely outcomes at each stage of the case
Conduct legal research on Texas Family Code provisions, procedural questions, and evidentiary issues, and verify authority prior to filing
Litigation and Courtroom Advocacy
Appear at temporary orders hearings, status and scheduling conferences, discovery hearings, enforcement hearings, protective order hearings, and contested final trials
Second-chair complex trials, progressing to first-chair responsibility as readiness allows
Conduct direct and cross-examination of parties, fact witnesses, and retained experts
Take and defend depositions
Prepare and argue motions, including motions to compel, motions for continuance, motions in limine, motions for enforcement, and motions for temporary orders
Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony
Assemble trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, deposition designations, and proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law
Represent clients at mediation and in settlement negotiations
Drafting and Written Advocacy
Draft original and amended petitions, counter-petitions, answers, and responsive pleadings
Draft, serve, and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and Rule 194 required disclosures
Prepare temporary orders, agreed and contested final decrees, SAPCR orders, income withholding orders, and QDRO referrals
Draft mediation memoranda, settlement proposals, and Rule 11 agreements
Prepare deficiency and meet-and-confer correspondence and pursue discovery disputes to resolution
Draft appellate-adequate records where post-trial relief may be sought
Discovery and Case Development
Direct the collection, review, and organization of financial records, communications, and other documentary evidence
Prepare inventories and appraisements; analyze characterization, tracing, and reimbursement issues
Identify, retain, and work with experts, including custody evaluators, business valuation analysts, forensic accountants, and vocational experts
Issue and enforce subpoenas and coordinate third-party records collection
Maintain organized, trial-ready case files throughout the life of the matter
Client Relations
Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients
Set realistic expectations at the outset of representation and deliver difficult assessments candidly
Maintain consistent, documented communication and respond promptly to client inquiries
Counsel clients through crisis with steadiness, discretion, and professionalism
Prepare clients for hearings, mediation, depositions, and trial
Practice Operations and Professional Obligations
Calendar and meet all deadlines, including statutory deadlines, court-imposed deadlines, and standing order requirements
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous time entries and case records in the firm's case management system
Comply with the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct, the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure, the Texas Rules of Evidence, and all applicable local rules and standing orders
Maintain Texas bar licensure in good standing and complete all required continuing legal education
Participate in firm case reviews, trial preparation sessions, and mentorship
Supervise, delegate to, and mentor paralegals and support staff
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Plano, Texas
Regular travel to courthouses in Collin, Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties is required
Extended hours are expected during trial settings and in advance of major deadlines
This description reflects the general nature and level of work performed and is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or requirements. Duties may be modified at the firm's discretion.
Qualifications:Active Texas law license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
A genuine desire to try cases. This is a litigation-first practice, and we want a lawyer who wants the courtroom at the center of their practice — not as a someday goal.
The instinct to advocate: take a position, defend it, and press it when the other side pushes back.
The ability to work with people in crisis. Clients arrive frightened, angry, or grieving. You can steady a client and keep them focused on the decisions in front of them.
Empathy and compassion, paired with the judgment to know when a client needs support and when they need a candid assessment they don't want to hear.
A serious work ethic and coachability. You take the note, apply it, and don't need it twice.
We are open to years of experience. Texas family law and prior hearing or trial experience are a plus, but trial ambition and judgment matter more. If you have the license and the appetite, apply.
The Radchenko Law Group, PLLC is a growing family law boutique in Plano, serving Collin, Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties. We handle divorce, custody and SAPCRs, modifications, enforcement, property division, spousal maintenance, and protective orders.
We are a litigation-first practice. Much of family law is practiced defensively — file the petition, exchange the minimum, settle on the day of mediation. We prepare every case as though it is going to trial, because the cases that resolve well are the ones the other side knows we are ready to try. Discovery is built to produce exhibits. Depositions lock in testimony we intend to use. Our attorneys are in North Texas courtrooms regularly.
We are small by design. Clients are not handed off, and every matter is staffed by attorneys who know the file. We are building this firm around trial capability — and hiring lawyers who want the courtroom to be the center of their practice, not a someday goal.
