Finance Loan Assistant

Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service internally and externally by assisting with loan servicing, accounts payable and receivable functions. Assisting with audit workpaper preparation. Assisting borrowers with submitting applications and due diligence for new loans. Work under the guidance of the Controller and Senior Lending Officer. Maintain accurate financial and loan records. Post receipts, disbursements and other transactions to ensure integrity of controls and timely and accurate completion of monthly account reconciliations. Review and track commercial loan documents and ensure all original documents are received and uploaded to Network. Organize invoices, payments, loan records and monitor accounts to maintain accurate financial records. Maintain servicing of new loans on mortgage accounting software for the life of loan (posting payments, disbursements, and managing the process for updating account records). Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business; in lieu of a degree, good working knowledge of, and previous experience in commercial mortgage lending and loan servicing procedures. A clear understanding of or a deep commitment to learning the nuances of church building loans (vs loans by traditional banks and other lenders); the products and services tailored to church borrowers, and the needs, challenges, and opportunities in the field of church-owned real estate. Strong work ethic exhibiting a sense of urgency in completion of tasks and willingness to work a flexible schedule. Self-starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload and remain motivated and positive. Well organized and detail-oriented, and exceptional time management. Willingness to take appropriate initiative for the effective operation of the Fund. Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with excellent proofreading and editing skills. Ability to perform within a collaborative team-oriented office. Commitment and sensitivity to the variety of local church traditions and cultural and ethnic backgrounds represented in the United Church of Christ. Clear understanding of the need for confidentiality. Enjoys working collaboratively with a team and willingly assists staff in performing other servicing-related duties as requested and assigned.
