Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to accurately diagnose mental health disorders among residents.
• Develop and implement tailored treatment plans based on individualized assessments, utilizing evidence-based practices that reflect the latest advancements in psychiatric care.
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, regularly monitoring their effectiveness and making necessary adjustments to dosages and treatment protocols.
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling services using various approaches, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and others as appropriate.
• Collaborate with fellow practitioners to coordinate holistic patient care, ensuring all aspects of a resident's well-being are addressed seamlessly.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health disorders, treatment options, and essential self-care strategies to empower them in their recovery journey.
• Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including responses to medication and therapy outcomes, utilizing our electronic health record system for accurate and timely record-keeping.
• Hold regular follow-up appointments to assess the effectiveness of treatment plans and address any emerging concerns that may affect patient health.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to share insights, learn from peers, and enhance overall patient care practices.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses on serving a diverse clientele within the assisted living facility, ranging from elderly individuals seeking assistance with chronic mental health issues to younger adults aiming to develop coping strategies for daily living challenges. You will play a pivotal role in addressing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders, particularly tailored for those in an assisted living context where ongoing support and continuity of care are essential.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required; a Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing is strongly preferred.
• Current and valid psychiatric nurse practitioner license in the state of New York.
• Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) is advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.

Preferred Experience

A minimum of two years of experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health care, with demonstrated expertise in conducting psychiatric assessments and providing therapy in a clinical setting. Familiarity with electronic health records and telehealth platforms will be considered a plus, as well as any experience in assisted living environments.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $200,000 to $250,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
