Our organization is in search of a full-time Chair of Surgery for Peconic Bay Medical Center. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of relevant experience, with prior leadership roles being highly desirable.

This is a remarkable chance to lead and enhance a surgical department that caters to the East End community of Long Island. The selected individual will manage a collaborative atmosphere alongside skilled surgical professionals and advanced practice providers.

Position Responsibilities

The chosen candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing leadership and oversight for both employed and independent surgeons within the Department of Surgery.

• Maintaining an active clinical practice while fostering departmental growth and development.

• Encouraging engagement, alignment, and collaboration among department members and with other clinical departments throughout the health system.

• Leading initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, patient safety, operational excellence, and program development.

• Driving departmental growth through strategic planning, recruitment, and expansion of service lines.

• Collaborating with hospital and system leadership on administrative, financial, and operational priorities.

• Fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, diversity, and physician engagement.

Candidate Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have:

• An MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.

• Board Certification in General Surgery (subspecialty certification is a plus).

• Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.

• Proven leadership experience within an academic or clinically integrated health system.

• A demonstrated history of clinical excellence, physician engagement, and program development.
