Position: Controller

Location: Roxbury, NJ (Hybrid – 2 days in office)

Compensation: $130,000 – $180,000 + Performance Bonus

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will drive the efficiency, accuracy, and overall impact of the Accounting & Finance function. This role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, ensures the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements, strengthens internal controls, and streamlines core financial reporting processes. Key Responsibilities

• Financial Operations & Reporting: Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including accrual- and GAAP-basis financial statement preparation and journal entries.
• Controls & Compliance: Establish, maintain, and recommend robust internal financial controls and segregation of duties to safeguard company assets and optimize workflows.
• Payroll & HR Collaboration: Partner with Human Resources to manage multi-state payroll processing and ensure full compliance with federal and state tax laws.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and tracking key performance metrics to guide business decisions.
• Audit & Tax Coordination: Coordinate with external accountants, leading annual tax filings, audits, and compliance requirements (including sales tax, workers' compensation, 401(k), and census submissions).
• Process Improvement: Evaluate current accounting software, billing practices, and financial workflows to recommend and implement operational efficiencies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including strong proficiency in accrual accounting, billing, and multi-state payroll.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced command of GAAP principles, SaaS business models, and subscription billing.
• Systems Proficiency: Experience with QuickBooks Online, Salesforce, Maxio, Avalara, and advanced Microsoft Office capabilities.
• Competencies: Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable to rapid growth, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a dynamic environment.

Travel & Schedule

• Workplace: Hybrid model based out of Roxbury, NJ (approx. 2 days per week in-office).
• Travel: Minimal travel required (approx. 10%).
