What You’ll Do

• Provide specialized nursing care for post-surgical patients on a dedicated unit.
• Monitor patient recovery after abdominal and colorectal surgeries including colectomy, bowel resection, and ostomy management.
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and document care using Epic EMR system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams managing complex cases such as hernia repairs, urological procedures, orthopedic surgeries, and wound care.
• Participate in weekend rotations and contribute to maintaining unit standards.
• Adhere to safety and infection control protocols and maintain professional appearance with approved jewelry and body adornments.

What You Need
Required:

• Active Kansas or Multistate nursing license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• 1 year of progressive care or step-down experience
• Current immunizations: Hep B, MMR, Varicella (or titers), TDaP, Influenza, TB documentation
• Strong clinical assessment, teamwork, and communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience on surgical step-down or similar units
• Ability to float to other inpatient med-surg floors and post-surgical units
• Flexibility to adjust to possible start date changes due to orientation scheduling
