Part-time Funeral Home Administrative Assistant

Job Summary

The Funeral Home Administrative Assistant provides clerical, organizational, and customer service support to ensure the smooth operation of the funeral home. This part-time position assists with day-to-day administrative tasks, interacts with families and visitors in a compassionate manner, and supports the funeral directors and management team with scheduling, documentation, and coordination of services.

Key Responsibilities

· Greet families and visitors with compassion, professionalism, and empathy.

· Answer and direct incoming phone calls; take messages as needed.

· Assist in preparing and filing legal documents.

· Maintain and update case files and records.

· Coordinate scheduling of appointments and services.

· Prepare correspondence and service materials.

· Assist with obituary preparation and submission.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspace.

· Process mail, deliveries, and floral tributes.

· Order and maintain office supplies.

· Support staff with service preparation.

· Assist with billing and payment processing.

· Represent the funeral home at community events.

· Handle confidential information with discretion.

· Meet with pet families in a compassionate and supportive manner to guide them through the pet cremation process, explain service options, and ensure all arrangements are handled with care and sensitivity. Provide comfort, answer questions, and help create a meaningful and respectful experience for families honoring their beloved pets.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.

· Previous administrative or customer service experience preferred.

· Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.

· Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
