The facility has 26 beds. The nurse will act as charge, administer medications, and perform wound care. Common patient diagnoses include heart disease, diabetes, and dementia. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:10 during the day and 1:19 at night. There are no IVs or titratable drips on this unit. Telemetry monitoring is not utilized. RNs are not required to attend team conferences. There is a Director of Nursing on-site, but no supervisors. Physician availability after hours is by phone on-call. Physical Therapy is available as needed, along with a social worker designee. Respiratory Therapy is not on-site. Equipment includes oxygen concentrators and portable concentrators. The pharmacy is off-site. Shifts are 12 hours from 7 PM to 7 AM with no blocked scheduling and no self-scheduling. Every other weekend is required. Every other major holiday is also required. No call or standby requirement is in place. There are no floating requirements. Scrub color/dress code is not specified, but staff must be clean and presentable. Unit-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts. Note that additional requests for time off will not be approved. The facility has a cancellation policy allowing for up to 4 shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. The charting system used is MatrixCare. A BSN degree is not required for this position.
