We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation. Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet. Location & Team Gatherings Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON. We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture. About This Role As part of Intersect’s project delivery organization, you’ll lead the execution of critical power generation and energy infrastructure projects that support the convergence of electrification, digitalization, and decarbonization. Acting as the owner’s representative throughout the project lifecycle, you’ll guide complex projects from development through commissioning and commercial operation while partnering closely with engineering, construction, commercial, operations, and executive leadership teams. You’ll oversee the successful delivery of natural gas-fired power generation facilities and related infrastructure, including reciprocating engine plants, gas turbine facilities, HV switchyards, substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), generation assets, and large-scale data center power infrastructure. Success requires strong technical judgment, disciplined project execution, and the ability to align diverse stakeholders around safety, quality, schedule, budget, and long-term value creation. This role is planned to start as soon as practical based on project requirements. A training and onboarding period of approximately two weeks is anticipated, with the expectation that the successful candidate will contribute immediately, become actively engaged during the first week, and achieve full organizational integration within the first two months. Team Overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect’s mission to accelerate the clean energy transition through the development and execution of large-scale energy infrastructure projects. By bringing together expertise across development, engineering, construction, commercial operations, and asset management, the team delivers the integrated infrastructure required to support a more reliable, scalable, and sustainable energy future. Joining this team provides the opportunity to work on highly visible projects with significant industry impact while collaborating alongside experienced professionals who are shaping the next generation of energy infrastructure. The team values accountability, innovation, continuous learning, and cross-functional partnership, creating an environment where individuals can grow professionally while contributing to meaningful outcomes. What You’ll Do Lead Complex Project Execution Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, execution strategy, resource planning, governance structures, and delivery objectives. Lead natural gas-fired power generation projects from development through commissioning and commercial operation. Drive project performance against key objectives related to safety, quality, schedule, budget, and operational readiness. Facilitate project closeout activities, lessons learned, commissioning support, and successful turnover to operations teams. Manage EPC and External Partner Performance Serve as the primary owner’s representative and point of contact for EPC contractors, consultants, utilities, equipment vendors, and key stakeholders. Oversee contractor performance, contract compliance, commercial negotiations, change management activities, and claims resolution. Review and approve construction strategies, procurement plans, and execution methodologies. Build productive relationships across complex stakeholder groups to support successful project outcomes. Drive Project Controls and Risk Management Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, risk registers, and reporting frameworks. Implement project controls processes that improve visibility into cost, schedule, and execution performance. Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and issue resolution activities throughout the project lifecycle. Provide clear, actionable project updates to senior leadership and executive stakeholders. Deliver Technical Excellence Partner with engineering teams to review and approve technical designs, engineering deliverables, vendor submittals, and construction approaches. Support the integration of reciprocating engine facilities, gas turbine plants, HV substations and switchyards, utility interconnections, BESS assets, generation resources, and data center infrastructure. Ensure technical solutions align with project objectives, operational requirements, and long-term asset performance expectations. Drive quality assurance and quality control processes across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities. Champion Safety and Regulatory Compliance Foster a culture of safety excellence across all project activities and stakeholder groups. Conduct site inspections, audits, and field reviews to verify adherence to safety requirements, project specifications, and quality standards. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, environmental obligations, permitting requirements, and applicable energy-sector standards. Support safe and compliant project execution while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Build Alignment Across Teams Partner with engineering, construction, commercial, operations, and executive leadership teams to drive decision-making and project success. Facilitate collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to resolve challenges and maintain project momentum. Promote accountability, transparency, and strong communication throughout project execution. Help cultivate a high-performing environment centered on technical excellence, ownership, and long-term value creation. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering or design discipline. 10+ years of progressive experience in project execution, construction management, engineering management, or project leadership within power generation, energy infrastructure, oil & gas, utility, or heavy industrial sectors. Direct experience supporting the construction and execution of natural gas-fired power generation projects. Knowledge of quality assurance, commissioning, startup activities, and safety management systems. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills. A hands-on leadership style that balances strategic oversight with detailed execution and accountability.
