Desktop Support Engineer

Job Description Robert Half Technology is seeking a dynamic, self‑motivated Desktop Support Engineer with strong Windows troubleshooting skills for our client out of Milpitas, CA. This is a 100% onsite opportunity. The Desktop Support Engineer is responsible for all end‑user IT support, resolving both hardware and software problems. The role requires accurate logging of all incidents, initiating tickets to track calls, problems, and dispositions. In addition, the Engineer will follow up on open issues to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction, as well as install replacement hardware components. The position requires a great customer‑service attitude, flexibility in job tasks, and the willingness to take on varied responsibilities. This role starts as a contract position with potential for full‑time conversion. Provide phone and in‑person support to employees with technical issues. Assign and categorize tickets for other members of the IT team. Mac, Apple and iOS troubleshooting (90% Windows / 10% Mac). Windows 10 / Active Directory / Outlook / Office. Configure and repair software and hardware. Install new desktop and laptop systems for employees. Configure and support employee cell phones and smart phones. Evaluate, prioritize, and respond to incoming requests via phone, e‑mail, voicemail, or in person. 2‑4 years experience with Windows/Apple/iOS troubleshooting. Experience with Office 365, Google Workspace, and Okta (or another single sign‑on). IT support experience in an enterprise environment preferred. Experience with Active Directory, Outlook, phone, and Microsoft support. Basic knowledge of network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LANs, WANs, NAT, and wireless. Experience with video‑conferencing support (Microsoft Teams or Zoom). Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
