Insomniac - Manager, Back of House Operations

Job Summary Insomniac is seeking an Operations Manager focused on back‑of‑house operations for concerts, festivals and club nights. The role reports to the Senior Festival Producer and requires a hybrid office schedule; this is not a remote position. Responsibilities Event planning – manage the planning and execution of all back‑of‑house operations in partnership with the Festival Promoter and Producer. Radio and communications – build the radio channel matrix, communicate equipment order quantities, schedule radio pickup hours, and work with the vendor to deliver required on‑site radio equipment. Site production coordination – partner with Site Production to ensure sufficient workspace on‑site for every department. Load‑in & truck stop operations – hire Guard or Truck Stop Manager, create a load‑in operations plan, and verify load‑in materials are in place. Staff catering and meals – forecast catering needs, bid and hire catering vendors, calculate meal projections, and manage dining operations on‑site. Staff advancing – develop a staff advancing plan and timeline with site management; lead the advancing team to deliver staffing on‑time. Travel and lodging – partner with the travel agency to secure cost‑efficient travel and hotel accommodations for staff, and ensure policy compliance. Staff guide and PPE – create the staff guide and distribute it to all departments; ensure OSHA‑certified PPE is available on‑site. On‑site operations runner – manage the production and operations runner, serve as an information hub for staff and vendors, coordinate daily production meetings, and track timeline progress. Budgeting – oversee credentials, catering, radios, travel & hotels, office assignments, artist dressing rooms, lounge, relations, and transportation; forecast and manage the departmental budget to finish a show under or on budget. Credentials & guest lists – manage guest list requests, partner with Procurement for asset bidding, design credential plans, create credential boards, forecast parking, and manage check‑in processes. Artist relations & logistics – work with artist relations, hospitality, transportation, and dressing room teams; order infrastructure for artist needs, manage artist lounge, and coordinate artist transportation routes. Recruitment & team development – recruit, hire, train, and develop operational support team members. Qualifications Minimum 5+ years of event coordination, planning, and execution experience. Proficiency in spreadsheets and the ability to manage large staff groups. Motivated, proactive problem‑solver with a “everything is possible” attitude. Strong sense of urgency and ability to drive projects of varying size. Comfortable working in loud, fast‑moving, and temperature‑variable environments. Willingness to travel frequently, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Legal requirement: U.S. applicants must possess work authorization; no visa sponsorship is offered. Work Environment Operations support roles require handling loud noise levels and busy settings, tolerance of dramatic temperature changes, and frequent travel to events in late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Salary $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 USD per year.
