Overview

Imagine a career where the essence of your work is to empower communication and uplift lives - literally! As a Speech Language Pathologist in the picturesque landscapes of Durham, North Carolina, you're poised to do more than just treat communication and swallowing challenges. Your expertise will inspire potential, restore self-esteem, and forge connections that transcend age - from young children uttering their first syllables to seniors reclaiming their voice.

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to engage with individuals across the lifespan in a facility that seamlessly integrates outpatient care with occasional support for inpatients. Whether you have a passion for guiding children through language development, addressing adult neurogenic communication issues, or assisting the elderly with cognitive-linguistic challenges, you will find satisfaction and flexibility in this role.

Description
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric clientele using standardized tests and observational methods.
  • Create tailored treatment strategies that meet both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing requirements.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions honing in on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing areas.
  • Collaborate closely with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to ensure unified care plans.
  • Provide education for patients and families to facilitate progress beyond the clinical environment.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, maintaining consistent care throughout the treatment process.
  • Ensure timely and thorough documentation in accordance with state, federal, and organizational policies.
  • Stay abreast of field advancements through continuous learning and teamwork.
Education
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification has not yet been achieved.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification should be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based therapies for a diverse age range, with a deep understanding of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Able to adapt therapy techniques to accommodate various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation requirements.
Benefits
  • Attractive salary aligned with your experience.
  • Flexible work schedules promoting balance and varied patient caseloads.
  • Opportunities to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation.
  • Options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Support for professional growth through continuing education reimbursement and development opportunities.
  • Collaborative atmosphere where teamwork is prized and quality care is the mission.

A Career That Elevates You

Within this role, you won't just be a speech therapist - you will be a vital part of a mission to empower voices, strengthen bonds, and create joyous moments through the fundamental human experiences of communication and understanding.

Here, you'll collaborate with close-knit colleagues who approach one another like family, fostering a collaborative rather than competitive culture. Every patient brings a unique story; you'll be empowered to help narrate that journey.

Why You Will Adore Living and Working Here

Durham captures the heart with its unique blend of cultural richness and hospitality. The area is renowned for its beautiful parks, vibrant arts scene, and innovative food culture, making it a haven for those who appreciate the balance between urban sophistication and natural tranquility.

The allure of your new surroundings includes inviting spaces for families to gather, a thriving arts community filled with music and creativity, and proximity to outdoor adventures. Explore trails, enjoy local breweries, and experience diverse culinary offerings, from farm-to-table delights to globally-inspired fare.

In addition to the lifestyle perks, Durham offers practical advantages. A low cost of living and no state income tax paired with a rapidly growing healthcare sector create a prime environment for professional growth and stability.

Whether you're just starting out in your career or looking to take your skills to the next level, you'll find the support and opportunities you need to flourish here.

Who We Seek

We are searching for a Speech Language Pathologist who is not only outcome-driven but also deeply empathetic. You are someone who sees a child's silent struggles and envisions a future of confident expression, who perceives the hesitant speech of a stroke survivor and hears resilience.

You may be a pediatric expert ready to expand into adult services, or a neuro-specialist excited about the nuances of early intervention.

If you are ready to share your heart and expertise, we are here to welcome you with open arms.

Let's Communicate the Meaning of This Journey Together

If you view speech as a realm of possibilities, and therapy as a path of trust and understanding - if you believe that connection is as vital as communication - then this could be the next meaningful chapter in your professional life.

Join us as part of a community that champions connection, fosters understanding, and applauds the courage it takes to start anew. Apply now and help us amplify voices - beginning with your own.
