Human Resources Specialist, Compliance

The Human Resources Specialist, Compliance is responsible for fostering a positive work environment by managing employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with labor laws, promoting company policies, and supporting HR initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers regarding workplace concerns, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct investigations into employee complaints, conflicts, and disciplinary matters, ensuring fair and consistent resolutions.
• Ensure compliance with labor laws, FLSA regulations, and company policies.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws regarding working hours, meal breaks, and rest periods.
• Review and maintain the functionality and accuracy of timekeeping software.
• Partner with leadership to administer the company attendance policy.
• Conduct audits of timecards, overtime, meal breaks, and paid leave to prevent discrepancies.
• Develop and analyze time and attendance metrics to identify workforce trends and improve compliance.
• Provide guidance on company policies, employment laws, and HR best practices.
• Track employee relations trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist with policy development and updates to align with legal requirements and industry standards.
• Facilitate training on conflict resolution, workplace ethics, diversity, and inclusion.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records.
• Work closely with HR and production teams to address workforce challenges, including absenteeism and employee engagement.
• Administer leave programs, including FMLA, USERRA, personal leave, and medical leaves, in compliance with applicable laws.
• Serve as the primary contact for employees requesting leave and guide them through the process.
• Coordinate with third-party administrators and insurance carriers regarding short-term and long-term disability claims.
• Maintain accurate and confidential leave records, approvals, and return-to-work dates within the HRIS.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in employee relations, human resources, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of labor laws, workplace regulations, and HR best practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and credibility.
• Strong conflict resolution, mediation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, HR software, and HRIS systems (Workday preferred).
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, particularly in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
