Project Accountant

Role Description

What you’ll do:

• Monitor project financial performance, including budget-to-actuals, cost tracking, utilization, and margin analysis.
• Prepare monthly project financial reports for Project Managers and leadership, highlighting risks, variances, and opportunities.
• Support forecasting processes by updating revenue and cost projections based on project progress.
• Prepare and issue accurate client invoices based on contractual terms (time & materials, fixed fee, milestones, percent-complete).
• Review timesheets, expenses, and subcontractor invoices for accuracy prior to billing.
• Perform monthly revenue recognition calculations in accordance with company policy and relevant accounting standards.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or client inquiries.
• Partner with Project Managers to analyze project performance and recommend adjustments to maintain or improve profitability.
• Conduct project closeout activities, including final invoicing, budget reconciliation, and documentation archiving.
• Support internal and external audits by providing project-related financial documentation and insights.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and industry accounting standards.
• Maintain organized records supporting billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• An advanced English level.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar project accounting role.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Vantagepoint (ERP system).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (including data analysis tools such as pivot tables and formulas).
• Strong understanding of project accounting principles, including revenue recognition and cost tracking.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to quickly adapt and hit the ground running in a short-term coverage role.
