Program Assistant

Job Description Responsible for opening, closing, and monitoring various park and school facilities; sets up facilities and provides and maintains inventories of supplies and equipment; assists with scheduling of facilities; enforces standards of discipline and conduct by program participants; assists in the organization and preparation of recreational activities; provides information to the public regarding facility activities; serves as liaison to the Park Maintenance and Sports divisions of the Parks and Recreation Department and promotes a cohesive working relationship between the schools, user groups, and the department; and performs related tasks as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with the public. Some knowledge or experience with community recreational programs and facilities and/or relevant experience with a school system. Minimum age requirement: 18 years old. Education and Experience 12-30 hours/week; Monday - Friday, 5 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., and Weekends: variable schedule. Possession of a driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
