Pay: $18.25 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time & Part Time | Primarily AM Shift | Weekends Required

Position Summary

Origin Hotel Kansas City is seeking a friendly, professional, and service-focused Front Desk Agent to join our team. The Front Desk Agent serves as one of the first and last points of contact for our guests and plays an important role in creating a welcoming and memorable hotel experience.

This position is responsible for guest registration and check-out, reservations and guest requests, telephone communications, payment processing, and coordinating with other hotel departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Provide warm, professional, and attentive service to all guests.

Welcome and acknowledge guests promptly while maintaining a friendly and polished presence.

Check guests in and out accurately, efficiently, and professionally.

Process payments, deposits, authorizations, and adjustments in accordance with hotel policies.

Maintain accurate guest accounts and balance assigned cash bank and transactions at the end of each shift.

Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally and provide accurate hotel information.

Review arrivals and assist with room pre-assignment, including VIPs, repeat guests, packages, special requests, and accessibility needs.

Monitor room availability, room status, and hotel occupancy throughout the shift.

Communicate guest requests, maintenance concerns, housekeeping needs, and other operational information to the appropriate departments.

Assist guests with information regarding hotel amenities, dining options, transportation, local attractions, events, and the surrounding Kansas City area.

Respond to guest questions, concerns, and service opportunities professionally and seek management assistance when appropriate.

Follow established procedures for guest privacy, key control, payment security, and cash handling.

Follow hotel procedures regarding lost and found items.

Maintain knowledge of hotel emergency, safety, and security procedures.

Complete assigned shift checklists, reports, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.

Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and lobby environment.

Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Engineering, Sales, and other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.

Perform other duties as assigned based on hotel and business needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous hotel, hospitality, customer service, or front desk experience preferred.

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a genuine desire to assist guests.

Professional appearance, communication, and demeanor.

Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately handle payments and guest accounts.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Comfortable using computers, email, telephone systems, and hotel technology. Previous Property Management System (PMS) experience is preferred.

Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a hotel team.

Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays as business levels require.

Must have flexibility to occasionally work mid-shifts or PM shifts when needed.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, communicate with guests and team members, and use computers and telephone equipment for extended periods.

The employee must occasionally be able to lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
