Job Description

K2 Solutions is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and customer-focused Human Resources Generalist (HR) to support a dynamic, mission-driven organization providing specialized services and solutions to the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

The Human Resources Generalist serves as a trusted partner to the HR Director and the Leadership Team by delivering comprehensive HR support throughout the employee lifecycle. This position is responsible for executing key HR functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, HRIS administration, payroll support, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and offboarding while ensuring adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations governing federal contractors.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

Human Resources Operations

• Administer the daily operations of the HR function while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic and hard-copy personnel records while safeguarding sensitive and confidential employee information.
• Administer employee data across HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, and benefits systems while ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, employee experience, and operational effectiveness.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve HR policies, procedures, forms, and standard operating procedures.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Integration

• Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, candidate communications, and selection support.
• Partner with Senior Talent Acquisition and hiring managers to identify staffing requirements and support workforce planning initiatives.
• Coordinate all pre-employment activities, including background investigations, employment eligibility verification, E-Verify, and onboarding documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive new employee orientation and facilitate a seamless onboarding experience.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Administration

• Administer all company-sponsored benefit programs throughout the employee lifecycle, including eligibility, enrollment, qualifying life events, reconciliations, and separation processing.
• Serve as the primary HR resource for employee benefits and retirement plan administration.
• Partner with Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing, compensation changes, and HR data integrity.
• Support Payroll Specialist/Staff Accountant with quarterly and annual payroll reporting requirements, tax administration, and regulatory filings, as necessary.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations governing a multi-state federal contractor.
• Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Service Contract Act (SCA), Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) requirements, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, the E-Verify Employment Eligibility Verification Program, VETS-4212 Federal Contractor Veterans' Employment Reporting, and other federal contractor compliance requirements.
• Coordinate responses to requests from government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor, state unemployment agencies, and other regulatory entities.
• Maintain audit-ready personnel records and assist with internal and external compliance audits.
• Monitor regulatory changes and recommend policy or procedural updates to ensure ongoing compliance.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers by providing guidance on company policies, employment practices, and HR procedures.
• Assist in conducting workplace investigations while maintaining fairness, objectivity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
• Coordinate the performance management process, including annual evaluations, performance improvement documentation, salary review cycles, and employee development initiatives.
• Support employee engagement initiatives that foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.

Organizational Development

• Maintain and update job descriptions to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and business needs.
• Coordinate annual reviews of the Employee Handbook and HR policies to ensure compliance with changing regulations and business requirements.
• Conduct exit interviews, analyze workforce trends, and recommend improvements to leadership.
• Coordinate employee recognition initiatives, wellness programs, company events, and internal communications, including the monthly company newsletter.

Preferred Education and Experience 

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Experience

• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience supporting multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, performance management, and HR operations.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Experience supporting a geographically dispersed, multi-state workforce.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and resolving complex employee relations matters.
• Experience administering Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), payroll systems, and employee benefits programs.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Highly Desired Experience

Candidates possessing one or more of the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

• Experience supporting a federal government contractor.
• Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), Service Contract Act (SCA), OFCCP requirements, EEO-1 reporting, VETS-4212 reporting, E-Verify, and other federal contractor compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (or comparable ADP platform), including HRIS administration, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee data management, and reporting.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Unanet ERP , including employee administration, project assignments, labor category management, timekeeping, organizational reporting, and data integrity.
• Experience integrating and maintaining data integrity across multiple enterprise HR systems.
• Experience with Employee Navigator, DocuSign, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint.
• SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR professional certification.
