Senior Accountant

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to lead the monthly close and financial reporting process while supporting project-based accounting activities. This role plays a key part in ensuring financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and providing valuable insights into project performance, including work-in-process (WIP), revenue recognition, and overall profitability. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Process Lead the month-end close, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide variance explanations and trend insights Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Support quarterly and annual audit activities Project Accounting & WIP Oversight Manage project accounting across active jobs, including cost tracking, margin analysis, and revenue allocation Maintain and analyze WIP schedules (percent complete, cost to complete, profitability forecasts) Partner with project managers to validate progress, update forecasts, and identify risks Monitor job costing, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses Support revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards (e.g., percentage-of-completion) Process Improvement & Controls Strengthen and maintain internal controls across accounting and project processes Identify opportunities to improve workflows, reporting, and system efficiencies Drive automation and process enhancements to improve accuracy and timeliness Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, project management, and leadership teams Provide financial insights to support decision-making and project performance Communicate key financial trends and recommendations to stakeholders Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required CPA or CMA preferred 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and project accounting Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based environments strongly preferred Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of GAAP and WIP accounting principles Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities Salary Range: $85,000 to $110,000 depending on experience and credentials.
