Angiogram/Interventional Technologist, San Marcos, 40 Hours, Full-time

Job Summary Under indirect supervision, provides patient services using imaging modalities, performing a variety of angio interventional procedures on patients of all ages. Evaluates images for technical quality and exercises professional judgment in duty performance, delivering essential patient care for angio interventional procedures, recognizing conditions requiring immediate action and initiating life support measures. Essential Responsibilities Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws. Selects appropriate equipment settings/parameters (e.g., locks, tube placement, control panel settings). Processes radiographic images properly using automated equipment. Uses proper sterile technique. Operates imaging computers in accordance with department protocols (CT, MRI). Uses ancillary equipment (catheters, guidewires, etc.) competently. Demonstrates ability to position patients for radiographic imaging. Positions patients accurately as per study protocols. Utilizes immobilizing devices such as sponges and sandbags when necessary. Handles and positions critical or trauma patients with care to avoid further injury. Age Specific Criteria: Understands cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological development for age groups served. Assesses patient data and interprets information to identify age‑specific needs. Adjusts technical factors for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Modifies positioning techniques for physical and cognitive abilities. Ensures careful handling, positioning, and restraint of infants and geriatric patients. Never leaves infant, pediatric, or disoriented geriatric patient unattended. Exercises Good Clinical Judgment: Consults with the radiologist or other clinician for clarification of orders. Selects alternate or additional views as appropriate. Does not perform an exam when it cannot be done safely or properly. Documents clinical activities promptly and accurately. Completes and initials the standard consultation form and Radiology Processing Record immediately after each procedure. Additional Performance Standards for Senior Technologist: Provides functional direction to assigned staff. Assigns work to staff so exams are performed timely. Reports operational problems and personnel issues to management. Communicates effectively with other departments to promote positive relationships. Demonstrates organizational skill and creativity in resolving operational problems. Observes all organizational, regional, medical service area, and Diagnostic Imaging Department policies and procedures. Complies with those policies and procedures. Observes Regional Radiation Safety Standards and Department Safety Policies. Quality of Service: Maintains professional behavior to enhance service quality. Greets members promptly, courteously, with eye contact and a pleasant expression. Informs members of any delays or anticipated delays. Treats all patients per the Patients Bill of Rights and limits work‑related conversation while patients wait. Communication: Demonstrates good communication skills. Communicates verbally clearly and concisely. Shows courteous telephone skills. Speaks English to patients, interpreting when necessary for non‑English speakers. Basic Qualifications Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a staff technologist in Interventional Radiology or successful completion of the department angiography interventional training program. Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire. Education N/A. License, Certification, Registration Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California) Certified Radiologic Technologist – Fluoroscopy Certificate (California) Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Additional Requirements N/A.
