Constellation Search Group is looking for a Payroll Specialist for a full-time direct hire position. This role involves managing the payroll functions of a college, ensuring employees receive accurate and timely compensation. The Payroll Specialist will ensure payroll processes comply with governmental regulations, handle Workday administrative functions, and serve as a subject matter expert on payroll and tax compliance issues. This is an on-site position requiring regular attendance onsite in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Responsibilities:

• Manage payroll processing and reporting functions to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with guidelines.
• Calculate and verify wages, tax withholdings, garnishments, and deductions; process direct deposit files and benefit vendor payments.
• Ensure federal, state, and local payroll and tax compliance, including handling tax filings, unemployment reporting, and W-2 processing.
• Perform Workday administrative functions related to payroll, including system maintenance and upgrades.
• Research, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll and Workday issues, implementing cross-functional solutions.
• Respond to payroll-related inquiries, providing accurate information and guidance.
• Conduct annual payroll audits and prepare required reports.
• Review and improve payroll processes in collaboration with Human Resources and other partners.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of payroll experience, with 6–7 years in finance or process-controlled environments.
• Preferred experience with Workday HCM and Payroll; required knowledge of payroll tax regulations and process controls.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to professionally handle situations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; ability to learn new systems.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• Experience in managing departmental budgets and coordinating projects.
